Part One: Session Three, Keeneland September Yearling Sale

Just like session two, 305 yearlings were cataloged for session three. This time, I was able to narrow down the “field” to 20 yearlings (based on pedigree). Listed below are my top selections for session three, listed in hip number order (this session spans hips 438-742):

Hip #443: By the successful Smart Strike, this filly is a half-sister to a multiple grade one winner, as well as a multiple graded stakes winner. Consigned by Eaton Sales.

Hip #445: By Smart Strike’s champion son English Channel, this colt’s second dam produced multiple black-type horses, including a grade one winner, a multiple graded stakes winner, and two stakes winners. Consigned by Darby Dan.

Hip #448: By the consistent Tiznow, this colt is out of a stakes-winning half-sister to two graded stakes winners. Consigned by VanMeter Sales.

Hip #453:
Sired by the productive Empire Maker, this filly’s second dam produced three group one winners – two of which were highweights. Consigned by Mill Ridge.

Hip #457:
A son of the successful Medaglia d’Oro, this colt is out of a full sister to the grade one-winning Any Given Saturday. Consigned by Lane’s End.

Hip #463:
By the outstanding Street Cry, this filly is very similarly bred to Zenyatta, being out of her black-type-winning half-sister, Where’s Bailey. Consigned by Hermitage Farm.

Hip #479:
This Malibu Moon colt is a half-brother to not only a multiple graded stakes winner, but a grade one-winning producer of multiple black-type horses, including a champion and two graded stakes winners. Consigned by Warrendale Sales.

Hip #487:
Not only is this filly sired by the fantastic Smart Strike, but she is a daughter of the multiple grade one-winning You, who has produced three black-type horses, one of which is a graded stakes victor. Consigned by Denali Stud.

Hip #493:
This son of Tiznow is a half-brother to the grade one-winning Appealing Zophie. Consigned by Burleson Farms.

Hip #494:
A son of the late, prolific Dynaformer, this colt is a half-brother to two black-type horses, one of which is the grade one-winning Pool Play. Consigned by Woods Edge Farm.

Hip #513:
By the terrific Bernardini, this colt’s second dam was a spectacular producer and among her impressive produce record is a grade one winner. Consigned by Bluewater Sales.

Hip #536:
Sired by the late, excellent Indian Charlie, this filly is out of a Seattle Slew mare who is a sibling to many black-type horses, including the grade one-winning Pure Clan. Consigned by Brookdale Sales.

Hip #550:
By two-time Horse of the Year Curlin, this filly is out of a multiple stakes-winning half-sister to the classic-winning Shackleford, as well as an additional grade one winner and other black-type horses. Consigned by Denali Stud.

Hip #569:
This colt is a full brother to the multiple grade one-winning Tizway, as well as the stakes-winning, graded stakes-placed Ticket to Seattle. Consigned by Sweezey and Partners.

Hip #581:
By War Front, this filly is a half-sister to three stakes winners, two of which are graded stakes winners, including the multiple grade one-winning Lady of Shamrock. Consigned by Lane’s End.

Hip #584:
Sired by Pulpit, this colt is a sibling to three stakes winners, one of which is a grade one winner. His second dam produced the great Holy Bull. Consigned by Bluewater Sales.

Hip #624:
By Arch and out of a Storm Cat mare, this filly’s second dam has produced two grade one winners – Point of Entry and the late Pine Island. Consigned by Gainesway.

Hip #654:
Sired by Tapit, this filly is a half-sister to three stakes winners, one of which is a champion (Ginger Brew) and one of which is a multiple graded stakes winner (Bourbon Bay). Consigned by Vinery.

Hip #659:
By Distorted Humor, this colt is the first foal out of the grade one-winning Cotton Blossom. Consigned by Eaton Sales.

Hip #714:
Sired by Medaglia d’Oro, this colt is out of the multiple grade one-winning Dream Rush, making him a half-brother to the brilliant juvenile filly Dreaming of Julia. Consigned by Three Chimneys.
